Aim: To develop the students’ ability to link the knowledge and skills acquired in the course modules to conduct a development project
Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this module, students will be able to:
LO-1 Create alternative conceptual designs to develop a particular development project with adequate number of sketches and preliminary drawings (Conceptual design).
LO-2 Evaluate alternative conceptual designs for a proposed project on a standardized triple bottom line basis (Evaluation of alternatives).
LO-3 Execute preliminary designs with adequate drawings (Preliminary design).
LO-4 Examine the feasibility of implementing the proposed project using social, economic, traffic, etc. data available (Feasibility study).
LO-5 Create drawings, tender documents, Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and other documents using standard methods by complying with the relevant Sri Lankan standards, and ensuring the constructability (Detailed design stage with preparation of drawings).
LO-6 Evaluate the designs with a goal-oriented approach to achieve design objectives.
LO-7 Organize the work individually as well as collaboratively in a team.
LO-8 Communicate professionally the outcomes and benefits of a development project in written reports and oral presentations.
