Module Outline

Introduction to product design: Product design as a powerful medium of communication, Traditional product designs vs. modern product designs, Multidisciplinary approach-link of art and engineering, Mechanical engineering in product design, Nature-made and man-made designs, demonstration of case studies: automobile design, robotics

 

Small team projects: Introduce STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) blended projects,  Practical design approach, Design environment, Design ethics, Design/product specifications, Build your design, Presentation-publication-marketing, Assessment and feedback

 

Tools and techniques of prototype design: Introduction to prototype/model design, Practical approach: Sketching, hands-on techniques, CAD tools for design and visualization: Solidworks/FreeCAD, Photoshop/InDesign, 3DMAX/Blender

 

Basic electronics and production methods: electronics design and simulation tools, 3D printing
