· To introduce important fundamentals of electrical power machines and their applications. · To build fundamental knowledge of electrical power machines which may become subjects of the further studies in Introduction to Robotics, Automatic Control Engineering, and Industrial Automation and Control courses. |
Module Learning Outcomes |
After successful completion of the module, learner should be able to:
LO-1 : Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of operations of general electrical equipment and power supply and be able to select machines for given applications based on theoretical considerations. LO-2 : Apply related theories and analyze the aspects of construction, principle of operation, applications, methods of speed control, and modes of operation of DC machines. LO-3 : Apply related theories and analyze describe the aspects of construction, principle of operation, applications, methods of speed control, and modes of operation of AC machines. LO-4 : Apply related theories and analyze the aspects of construction, application and operation of single phase and three phase transformers. LO-5 : Analyze the power and control requirements of given applications and select suitable DC or AC machines for given applications. |
